Why do Pit Bull owners have the dogs pull weight?

Are Pit Bulls good with other animals (including dogs)?

Amber Harney writes:
It is in the APBTs nature to go after other animals. That is what they’ve been bred to do for centuries. But, not everyone is the same. Many Pit Bull owners live peacefully with more than one dog, cats, etc. If your Pit Bull was raised around other animals it is more likely to be friendly with them. This is not true in all cases and some owners have the “crate and rotate.” In which, owners have only one dog out at a time.

That depends on the individual dog. It can not be made as a blanket statement. Some do well with other dogs and some will not tolerate them. It is always best to be on the side of caution with any breed of dog in my opinion and make sure to do good solid obedience training, know your dogs comfort levels and learn its body language and posturing. Some can certainly have dog aggression.

I wanted to add, that human aggression is not to be tolerated from this breed. APBTs are supposed to be bred to LOVE people and not be fearful shy or aggressive towards them. Dog aggression does NOT = human aggression as some seem to believe. The two are very different things.

Are Pit Bulls Safe With Children?

Pit Bulls are perfectly safe with children as long as the dog is used to being around them. Pit Bulls are an extremely loyal breed and as far as the dog belonging to a family with children, the dog will become a protector of the child just as much as of the adult owners. Read more »
