Are pit bulls REALLY more dangerous than most dogs?

This is probably the most commonly asked question about pit bulls. In short, the answer is no. It’s not logical to assume that one breed of dog is always going to be aggressive; it depends on the specific dog. Each dog has a different personality, no matter what breed it is. However, the reason that pit bulls have such a bad reputation is mainly do to the fact that they are a powerful, high energy breed , so when they DO become aggressive, they tend to do more damage simply due to the fact that they are naturally powerful. Even if properly socialized, pit bulls can have dog aggression. I think it is more important to specify management, and the difference between dog and human aggression.

It is a BIG problem when people assume their dogs won’t become dog aggressive as they mature if they have been “raised right”. That’s when a lot of people end up at a loss because they were not prepared for a dog that ends up with DA. It is a part of the breed that owners need to know when adopting/buying a dog, and it can be very harmful if they are not aware.
